Jennifer Mele, LSW

Jennifer is one of the full-time DBT therapists here at GenPsych since May 2010. Jennifer received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Boston University and her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University. Jennifer has been involved with Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the past three years after interning and working with the DBT Center of New Jersey. Jennifer sees adults, adolescents and their families for individual sessions and leads/co-facilitates adult and adolescent groups on a weekly basis. Jennifer’s specific interests center around mindfulness and awareness based practices.

Kate McLean, LSW

Kate is a full-time DBT therapist and skills trainer for adults and adolescents. Kate received her Bachelor?s in Psychology with a
concentration in Mental Health from Southern Connecticut State University in 2009. She also received her Master’s in Social Work from
Rutgers University in 2011.

She has experience working with individuals and groups in elementary school settings, partial care mental health programs, substance abuse
programs, and DBT. Outside of a therapeutic environment, Kate has worked closely with adolescents in youth homes as a Youth Counselor. In
December 2010, she participated and completed a training program to be a crisis line worker for suicide prevention. Kate’s formal DBT training
includes: DBT Chain Analysis and DBT Validation Principles and Strategies.”

Dana Green-Witter

Dana is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She utilizes a DBT approach to work with individuals who suffer from anxiety and mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideation and substance abuse. Dana is dedicated to ensuring that she provides a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment while clients work towards finding a healthy way to cope with life circumstances and stressors.

   Karishma Chawla, MS, NCC, LPC

Karishma Chawla, MS, NCC, LPCKarishma is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey as well as a National Board Certified Counselor. Since 2004, Karishma has been passionately working in the mental health field at the outpatient, intensive outpatient and partial care level. She received her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Maryland & Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University. She specializes in caring for the whole client, not just the symptoms they present with. She tailors your therapeutic treatment to meet each of your needs and therefore is able to address a range of issues using a combination of approaches which include cognitive behavioral therapy, compassion focused therapy and mindfulness based treatment. She has experience providing individual, group, couples and family therapy with adolescents and adults. She is experienced in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse disorders and relational conflicts.

Karishma understands that asking for help is difficult and will work hard at developing a safe environment for you to work on developing relief from your current distress. After working for years with many types of individuals, she found that while people’s problems are different, at the core, people themselves are the same, searching as best they can to get their basic needs met, as best they know how. She is enthusiastic about working with you to help you heal your pain and live a more fulfilling life.
