Tanja Frade, MSW
Tanja received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University in 2000 and her Masters degree in Social Work from Rutgers University in January of 2008. She also received her social work license in the fall of 2008. Currently, she is accumulating supervision hours and is in my final three months of supervision prior to testing for a clinical license.
Prior to starting at GenPsych in June of 2009, Ms. Frade worked for the past ten years in non-profit agencies. She started her career working with the developmentally disabled population while receiving her undergraduate degree. Tanja was quickly promoted at Alternatives Inc. from part-time employee to Assistant Manager. She began working at Easter Seals in the fall of 2001 and provided case management services through ICMS for adults leaving state psychiatric hospitals. That is where Tanja developed my passion for working in the mental health field. She returned to Alternatives Inc in 2004 to begin working with high school students and adults diagnosed with mental illness and developmental disabilities. Tanja provided individual and group counseling as a Clinical Specialist. During that time, Ms. Frede developed and facilitated a Women’s Issue group for adult women. She changed positions at Alternatives Inc in 2005 and resumed working with the adult mental health population, primarily providing individual therapy and occasionally family therapy sessions for clients receiving housing and case management services through Alternatives Inc.
During her time at Alternatives Inc, Tanja chaired the Quality Counsel to ensure quality care to all clients receiving services through the agency. Additionally, she developed and facilitated a depression and coping skills group. Lastly, she developed and facilitated a Crisis Intervention Training and assisted in the development of a Safety Training Program for staff.
Tanja has interests in treating anxiety, depression and psychosis. She enjoys helping families with newly diagnosed loved ones navigate the complex mental health care system. Having a family member newly diagnosed with a mental illness can be a very trying time emotionally, and Tanja is passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping individuals and families work through the fear and pain associated with this difficult and life-changing event. Ms. Frede enjoys providing cognitive and behavioral coping skills, including mindful awareness and relaxation techniques to assist people in reducing symptoms.
