Dr. Henry Odunlami
Dr. Odunlami, a board certified psychiatrist, received his medical degree from the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria and completed his internship and psychiatric residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. At Albert Einstein, Dr. Odunlami served as Chief Resident in Emergency Room Services in 1997. He achieved Board Certification in 1998, and in 2003 he received a visiting fellowship at Columbia University for the ECT Certification program.
Dr. Odunlami’s first attending physician position was in Alpena, Michigan, at the Alpena General Hospital, from 1997-2000. He then served from 2000-2002 at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT. In 2002, Dr. Odunlami moved to New Jersey, where he has worked in Morristown Memorial Hospital, Princeton House, UMDNJ, and Somerset Medical Center. At Somerset Medical Center, he served as Medical Director of all Psychiatric Services until 2009, when he moved into full time private practice
In 2005, Dr. Odunlami founded GenPsych, PC, a mental health and substance abuse facility. GenPsych has since grown to over 70 employees in three central New Jersey sites: Bridgewater and Hamilton and Princeton. Dr. Odunlami currently holds staff privileges at the Somerset Medical Center and Carrier Clinic.
James W. Fay IV, LPC
Program Director
Jim is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has been working in the behavioral health field for over 15 years. Jim attended Fordham University for his undergraduate degree in Psychology and received his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Caldwell College in 2002. Jim has worked in several programs, including Newton Memorial Hospital and Hunterdon Medical Center.
While at Newton Memorial, Jim worked at the Partial Care Program, helping adults with severe and persistent mental illness develop the skills and supports to return to a life unencumbered by symptoms. At Hunterdon, Jim was the Coordinator for the Family Crisis Unit and the Youth Case Management Program and worked with kids and families who were struggling with behavioral issues. Jim’s approach to treatment tends to be client centered and uses techniques from a motivational interviewing and REBT perspective. Jim has been trained in IMR, Motivational Interviewing, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Wellness and Recovery.
Due to his unabashed baseball addiction, there is a distinct possibility that you might have to endure a conversation with him about about America’s greatest pastime.
John Migueis, MSW, LCSW
Clinical Coordinator – Adolescent Programs
John’s specialties include adolescent and family issues, parenting, relationship issues, grief/loss, anxiety, trauma and anger management.
John began his career as a Clinician at Catholic Community Services, Mount Carmel Guild, Newark, NJ as an Orientation and Evaluation clinician. He worked with the SPMI population (groups, case management, outreach and crisis intervention) and provided individual outpatient therapy as well. He also worked part time as a counselor for KARE Group Home. Mr. Migueis provided individual counseling and case management services to teens with behavioral and emotional needs requiring an out of home placement. Soon after, he became the Program Director of Youth Services for Catholic Community Services, Diocese of Metuchen. John provided counseling services to youth and families in group and in home settings and also supervised and managed in home, mentoring, supervised visitation, group, recreational and camp programming in Middlesex and Somerset Counties.
Prior to joining GenPsych, John was the Quality Assurance and IT Manager for Coorindated Family Care (CFC). This position allowed him to continue my work with youth and families in a different capacity. As QA Manager, Mr. Migueis reviewed plans of care, assisted in the management of unusual incidents, participated in Child family Teams and developed systems and protcols that ensured quality care and measured outcomes. During this time he also began a private practice which is currently maintained. The majority of John’s clients are teens, young adults and families. He am in the process of obtaining status as an EMDR trained clinical.
Valerie Merton, LPC, NCC
Valerie is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is hands-on in all clinical aspects and continues to enjoy running groups and treating people individually who participate in the program.
Prior to joining Genpsych, Valerie worked in a range of treatment settings including an Adult Inpatient Unit, an Adolescent Therapeutic Community and a Residential Rehabilitation.
Valerie’s professional goal in life is to help abolish the social stigma surrounding the treatment of mental illness.
